Best Time to Travel to Asia

Asia has a large variation in its geography and climate from region to region. The best times to travel also vary greatly and it is not possible to give a general description applicable to all of Asia.

In northern Asia, spring which is March to April is a good time to travel with temperatures in the 70’s as well as autumn, September and October with temperatures in the 60’s. January is the coolest month, July is the warmest and August is the wettest. May, September and October are the peak tourist when the weather is most comfortable. The low season arrives in late November, and continues through the winter when there are fewer crowds and the prices are lower.

The southern part of Asia, south of the Himalayas March to May as hot summer months unsuitable for travel except in the Himalayan Region. The best time to visit is the winter season which lasts from October to February. Around this time, the usually wet areas of Northeast also become dry, making it easier to travel there. These months coincide with the festivals of South Asia. In October - November falls Dussehra, Durga Puja and Diwali. In March falls Holi, the festival of colors. Then there are Id, Easter.

The best thing to do in South East Asia is to avoid the two peak tourist seasons. The first peak tourist season falls roughly from the beginning of December to the end of January, covering the major public holidays like Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Chinese New Year. During October –November, the end of Ramadan, Asian travel routes are and hotels are fully booked as it is annual leave time. Travel is best avoided at that time.
